DR. David L. Mukisa
Chairman/Executive Director - Operations

David L. Mukisa has over 15 years of contributing actively to the biomass energy subsector, improved cookstoves and biofuels programmes, climate change mitigation and adaptation initiatives as well as development of projects thereto and contributing to policy development aspects. He has skills and expertise in household and institutional improved stove programme design and implementation, retort kiln design, improved charcoaling techniques, pelletizing of non-carbonized biomass, biomass supply chain management, climate smart agriculture (options for increased agricultural productivity, ecosystem sustainability (adaptation), reduction of emissions from land use change (mitigation), food security. David has proven skill sets in designing and implementing community supported projects including but not limited to participatory research, structured stakeholder engagement, community awareness and sensitization programmes, capacity building, networking and partnership building, resource mobilization. He has managed projects at a senior level and interfaced with policymakers, technocrats, development partners, research organisations, private sector leaders (local and international), formal and informal stove builders, traditional charcoal making communities, briquette producers and local farmers.
David is a candidate for an Honorary Doctorate Degree, having been nominated in recognition of his unreserved contribution and leadership for sustainable development.
Mr. Alex Tuhimbise

Mr. Alex Tuhimbise is a seasoned lawyer, advocate of the high court and a commissioner of oaths. He brings on board a wealth of experience in legal practice which stretches over a period of 15 years.
Mr. Yokoyard Ahimbisibwe
Non-Executive Director and shareholder

Mr. Ahimbisibwe Yokoyard, is a career businessman with over ten years’ experience in the leather fashion and design industry. He brings on board his experience and capacity to create functional networks with vital business partners.
Mr. Kamlesh Kumar Pathak
Senior Advisor Partnerships and Technical Assistance

Mr. Kamlesh Pathak has 16 years experience in ideating concepts, designing projects and delivering programmes on green growth, low-emission development, resource efficiency, cleaner production and climate resilient investments with focus on manufacturing, renewable energy infrastructure, urban and related cross-sectoral issues.
He promotes and implements the purpose of international cooperation on priorities drawn from global conventions and agreements with a focus on UNFCCC, UNEP, NDCs, CBD, Aichi Targets.
His priorities spread across sustainable development goals and humanitarian agenda with focus on climate change, circular economy, clean air, sustainable chemical management, bioeconomy, sustainable technologies and green investment.
He has provided expertise in design and implementation of environmental and sustainability frameworks for individual and corporate wide facilities with focus on EHS, CSR, Climate and Energy issues. He has advised companies, institutions and enterprises on developing Standard (ISO, OHSAS, SA, and GRI etc) based management system and reporting framework, and also provided implementation, auditing and verification assistance in Asian Region. Long time experience in designing, organizing and implementing capacity building and specialized training programmes and
awareness workshops on range of thematic area for Industry, Urban, Rural, Forest & Natural Resource Sectors.
He is the Founder and CEO of GreenWorks Consultants, a successful consultancy firm based in New Delhi, India.
Dr. Christoph Adam
Senior Advisor Charcoaling Techniques/Biochar

Dr. Christoph Adam is a professional design engineer who has had a successful career in the design and implementation if innovations related to sustainable charcoal production. He is the inventor of the Adam Retort kiln which has been successfully introduced in over twenty countries including Uganda. He has executed several consultancy tasks in the area of sustainable charcoal production in various countries around the globe.
Dr. Christoph Adam brings on board the long experience with emissions free charcoal production gained in Ghana (ECO-BAMBOO-CHAR Project), in the Amazon as a consultant for DED, in Ethiopia where he has done work for GIZ, ENDEV and ARiPO (African Regional Industrial Property Organization), among many others.
Dr. Florence Ajok
Acting Country Manager

Florence is a Behavioral and Social Scientist, a Public Health Specialist with over 15 years of experience in Programming and program Management, Institutional Leadership and Governance, Organizational Development (OD), Capacity Building/Trainings, Research and humanitarian work. She has worked majorly in the NGO fraternity, both in national and international NGOs and has clear understanding of government (central, district and local) systems, protocols and procedures. She is well conversant with regulatory systems and bodies for the oversight of health and other development work. Over the years, she has worked for and supported projects funded under bilateral and multilateral donor arrangements and clearly understands the key donors regulations and compliance requirements.
In regards to her formal trainings, she holds a PhD in health studies, Mastered in Public Health and attained a bachelor degree in social sciences (majored in sociology), a counselor, a trainer of trainers and her special interest ranges from child and adolescents health, maternal, reproductive health, gender, human rights, empowerment and equity.
She holds membership to a number of membership bodies and networks including: a member on the research ethics committee (REC) of the Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI), a member on the Uganda National Association of Community and Occupational health (UNACHO), a member on Uganda Red Cross Society (URCS), a member on The AIDS Support Organization (TASO), a member on the Adolescent Technical Working Group (MoH) and she is a Rotarian.
Dr. Herbert Kasiita
Technical Advisor, BSF Larvae Programme

Dr. Herbert Kasiita is a development practitioner with over 15 years practice as a Veterinarian in animal diagnosis, treatment and advisory services to small and large holder farmers. He has been in leadership as team leader for over 10 years with experience in planning, implementation and project monitoring, and well versed with reporting protocols and timely communication. He is passionate about the field of conservation, food security particularly using live-stock based linkages in various arenas including climate change, sustainable use of resources and agric-technology. He has been involved in a lot of research relating to diseases that come from animals to humans especially rabies, brucellosis, Trypanosomosis and Giardia in a number of local and international collaborations. He was responsible for teaching, training and supervision of students’ internship and special Projects in Veterinary Pathology at Makerere University for 6-years. Above all he is a well-trained trainer of trainers certified by the Livestock Emergency Guidelines and Standards Secretariat. He founded and ran a nonprofit called Veterinary Practitioners without borders Uganda which did practice and advocacy for clean and smart veterinary interventions to secure animal, environmental and human health from 2010 to 2015 reaching over 200,000 people in 7 districts in the greater Masaka area. Over 20,000 pets were vaccinated in order to stop rabies at the animal interface before it reaches humans through awareness and vaccination campaigns. After 2012, Dr. Kasiita became a serial founder where he co-founded Nyama Platform; a safe meat advocacy housed by Agriprofocus. He started the Federation of Agribusiness Networks from a mere Facebook and WhatsApp group currently boasting over 10 stable cooperatives and associations in different agricultural enterprises. He not only founded NakawaTusimbude Poultry Farmers’ Cooperative but also ran it for 3 years alongside his placement in KCCA as part of his duties.
Dr. Mugumya Xavier Nyindo
Technical Lead – Climate Change

Dr. Mugumya is a seasoned climate change mitigation expert with over 30 years professional experience in forestry. He served successfully in the public sector until his retirement to practice free lance consultancy before joining NBI. During his years as a public officer, he spent 14 years as Uganda’s Climate Change Mitigations Negotiator responsible for climate change mitigation (AFOLU/ LULUCF/REDD+) as well as negotiator at the UNFCCC, and most of the time supporting the mitigation lead in the negotiations. He attended all the COPs (from Indonesia until Madrid in COP 19 in Warsaw and COP 26 in Glasgow) before he retired. He brings on board invaluable international experience as well as practical experience in the development, documentation, profiling, registration, monitoring and evaluation of carbon emission reduction programs on the compliance and voluntary carbon markets.
With 12 years spent as the Alternate National Focal Point for REDD+ responsible for developing the country’s mitigation actions in the forest sector and co-leading the preparation of the REDD+ elements (REDD+ Strategy, REDD+ Emissions Baseline, REDD+ Monitoring System and REDD+ Safeguards System), Dr. Mugumya embodies specific assets for the NBI’s comprehensive programs in the agriculture, forestry and bioenergy sectors which are also critical for the sustainable development of Africa.
